If you’re a student at Indiana State University (right across the street), Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, St. Mary of the Woods College, or Ivy Tech, we’d love to be your church home during your college years. We consider you an adult, and we’d love to involve you in the wide range of what we do at St. Stephen’s, from singing in the choir to helping build handicapped ramps to scarfing down church food and participating in a variety of Christian formation groups.
We also welcome you if you’re just curious about what an Episcopal service is like and want to pay us a visit. The “New to Us” section of this website should give you some basics, but feel free to contact us with any questions or just show up on Sunday and ask someone. We’re pretty friendly, and we’re easy to find.
If you’re an ISU student (or in the neighborhood) and you’d enjoy a quiet place to read, draw, or just sit and meditate, don’t hesitate to cross 7th Street and spend some time in our garden. It welcomes you any day of the week, all through the year, and we’d love for it to be an oasis of peace for you.
In addition, we urge you to become involved with United Campus Ministries, just two doors north of us at 321 North 7th. UCM is an ecumenical, diverse, and inclusive ministry to colleges and universities . In addition to serving students, faculty, and staff of Indiana State, Rose-Hulman, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods, the ministry provides activities and events that are open to the wider community. If you’re looking for a great group of peers to talk with, play with, and serve with, United Campus Ministries is a great place to be.
The Episcopal Diocese of Indiana is a chief supporter of UCM (click here to view a great video profile of all campus ministries backed by the diocese.) And St. Stephen’s also supports UCM directly, so you never know when you’ll run into one of us there.
Your college years are an incredible time of change and growth. We’d love to get to know you and support you during this time!
